The Blindness of the Christian Voter

Constitution Party Presidential Candidate Chuck Baldwin’s quote on the Christian Voter:

“Unfortunately, it has been the Christian Right’s blind support for President Bush in particular and the Republican Party in general that has precipitated a glaring and perhaps fatal defect: the Christian Right cannot, or will not, honestly face the real danger confronting these United States. The reason for this blindness is due, in part, to political partisanship or personal aggrandizement. Regardless, the Christian Right is currently devoid of genuine sagacity. On the whole, they fail to understand the issues that are critical to our nation’s–and their own–survival” Chuck Baldwin

Bullseye, Chuck. I was guilty in 2000 and 2004 of the same ignorance. When we don’t vote our values and instead vote for the ‘lesser of two evils,” we will always be stuck with an ‘evil.’ This year I am telling the globalist neocon McCain that I “will not” vote for him out of obligation to a party that has left it’s planks. Conservatism is dead in the GOP.

  1. I think this view of the Christian Right, President Bush, and the GOP, is a bit simplistic. There is no question that the Grand Old Party has lost much of itself over the last decade or so, but there are still great people within its ranks, trying to fight the good fight. Furthermore, when presented with the REALITY of our two-party system, they undoubtedly still represent the best hope for this country.

I personally have a great amount of respect for our President, or any man, that can maintain composure and conviction in the face of non-stop personal assaults by the media and academia, everyday, for eight years.

In my opinion it is quite sad, and quite indicative of the selfish nation we are becoming, to see how even the Right has now seemingly abandoned him.

  2. I think this view of the Christian
Right, President Bush, and the GOP, is
    a bit simplistic.

I am not understanding what is “simplistic” about this view? Can you expand on your criticism?

There is no question that the Grand
Old Party has lost much of itself over
    the last decade

It hasn’t lost anything… it has moved toward Neoconservatism. Neocons have different values than Paleocons (The Old Right). There has been a shift in ideology here, not a loss in a few basic fundamentals. Go and research the difference between the planks supported by Paleoconservatives vs Neoconservatives. There is a HUGE gap, mainly in the foreign policy and economics.

but there are still great people
within its ranks, trying to fight the
    good fight.

Name one… besides Ron Paul. The good fight is nothing more than denigrating Liberals. It has nothing to do with maintaining the planks of Conservatism. Neocons spend like crazy. Neocons are INCREASING the size of government. Neocons are nation building overseas. Neocons are responsible for our open borders. None of these things are conservative values. Just because they may share some Social conservative ideals… does not make them Conservatives. And it definitely does not qualify them to be “fighting the good fight.” They are big government globalists and Bush is responsible for his actions.

    Furthermore, when presented with the
REALITY of our two-party system, they
    undoubtedly still represent the best
    hope for this country.

This sad truth is precisely why we need to do everything we can to change this system… not roll over and concede to the demise of conservative principles.

    that can maintain composure and
conviction in the face of non-stop
personal assaults by the media and
    academia, everyday, for eight years.

He is a big boy, he can handle the criticism… he doesn’t need little cheerleaders defending his honor. Whatever your values… there will be descent and disagreement. Who cares? Thats the beauty of our country… why would you want it to change? When critism for our elected officials stop, that when I will get scared.

In my opinion it is quite sad, and
quite indicative of the selfish nation
we are becoming, to see how even the
Right has now seemingly abandoned him.

Again, I am not seeing anything unpatriotic about disagreeing with an elected official. His Neoconservative actions SHOULD be in question. And this is a political season… the GOP has become famous for doing whatever is popular at the moment to win elections. That all the Neocons are doing right now by distancing themselves from the Grand Puba of Neocon movement. They are banking on the loyalist voter (like yourslef) so now they are going after independents. Its called politics, man. It’s disgusting, i know.

  3. Oh yea… thanks for stopping in. That was pretty rude of me to forget the most important thing. Welcome, friend.

  4. We can agree that spending and the growth of government is out of control, but that is no reason to hand it over to people that will only multiply that effort tenfold….Not to mention all the other terrible values they espouse.

I suggest you build yourself a fort in some remote part of the country, and this scary “globalism” might just miss you. Let’s hope Obama and his cronies haven’t destroyed everything when your head finally emerges from the sand.

Thanks for the warm welcome, friend.

  5. Haha…. wow. You really addressed my points well. Crisp, clean, debate. Do you even know what “globalism” is, Alex? Here is a video that I think describes you well… friend-o.
